Between tradition and modernity
A native of Hamburg, Christiane Achatzi has worked for several years as an international fashion model in Germany, Paris, Milan, and Zurich. She studied Design and later Costume Design at the Academy of Arts in Hamburg.
She was responsible for the designs of a German fashion company in Calcutta and Bombay. Since 1985, she has been traveling between Germany and Greece, working in architectural and artistic design for over 15 years. Her projects include
the reconstruction of various Cycladic houses and the design and restoration of the listed and protected village of Berdemiaros on the island of Tinos.
In 2003, she began working as a stage and costume designer at the Landestheater Innsbruck, followed by collaborations with the Theater Chemnitz, the Vienna State Opera, the Finnish National Opera, the Slovak National Ballet, Les Ballets de Monte Carlo, the German Youth Ballet of John Neumeier, and others. In 2018, she designed stage and costume sets for the Grand Théâtre de Genève and Ballett am Rhein.
Since 2019, Christiane has been living in Tinos, restoring old houses and, together with architect Hans Peter Achatzi and civil engineer Emmanuel Dellasoudas, preparing designs for four stone houses on Skepano Hill.
